Who Can Participate?

Open to students across academic levels in the U.S. and international equivalent:

• Junior and Senior Divisions: Grades 6–8 & Grades 9–12

• College and Beyond Divisions: Undergraduate, Graduate Students and Beyond

Whether you're a budding scientist, engineer, or creative problem solver, this competition is for you.

Team Format

• Compete individually or in teams (up to 5 members)

• Only one submission per project

• One student submits for the entire team

Awards & Recognition

• Top projects in each division will be recognized at the International Finals Conference

• Special awards for innovation, impact, and presentation

Competition Timeline

🔹 Round 1 – Project Description

• What: submit 200-word summary of your idea, with your initial paper or poster as optional.

• Deadline: 11:59pm August 1st, 2026 PST (Late submissions will be placed on a waiting list.)

• Fee: FREE

* Submissions will be processed in the order they are received. If you don't heard back within 10 business days after submission, please reach out to us.

🔹 Round 2 – Video Presentation

• What: If selected in the Round 1, submit 3~5 minutes video demonstration, with project slides, paper (up to 8 pages), or poster (1 page) detailing your work.

• Deadline: 11:59pm October 1st, 2026 PST

• Fee: US$195 (Early Bird US$95 until September 25th, 2026 PST)

* If your family is experiencing financial hardship, you may be eligible for a full or partial fee waiver. Please contact us with the subject line "CUP Science Fee Waiver Apply + Student's Name."

🔹 Final Round – International Finals Conference

• What: If selected in the Round 2, live presentation and Q&A session at International Finals Conference

• Date: Early November, 2026 PST

• Fee: FREE for Finalists

All entries must be submitted through our Submission Portal (secure QR code available on our flyer).

Judging Criteria

💡 Innovation & Originality (20%): Novelty and creativity of the idea; fresh approaches that stand out.

🔬 Scientific Rigor (20%): Solid methodology, logical reasoning, and evidence-based conclusions.

🛠️ Feasibility & Execution (20%): Practicality and completeness of implementation; technical soundness.

🌍 Impact & Relevance (20%): Potential to address important real-world problems or societal needs.

🎨 Presentation Quality (20%): Clarity, organization, and visual appeal of the submission and communication.

Competition Judge Application

Judges play a critical role in providing fair, constructive evaluation and encouragement to innovators from around the world.

To qualify, judges must apply through our Judge Portal, meet the eligibility requirements and agree to uphold our ethics and confidentiality standards.
